- 02We offer the ability to purchase only stocks that are traded on U.S. stock exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ. For example, this includes popular companies like Apple (AAPL), Nike (NKE), Disney (DIS), and Tesla (TSLA). Stocks listed on international or foreign exchanges (Ex: London Stock Exchange or the Tokyo Stock Exchange, etc.) are not currently available for purchase. However, thanks to our partnership, non-U.S. residents can still buy shares of companies listed on U.S. exchanges, as long as they comply with their local regulations. So whether you're in the U.S. or abroad, you can still gift ownership in many of the most well-known American companies!
- 03Absolutely! Students all over the world can participate in our Earn While You Learn program and receive cash rewards. We use PayPal to send payouts, so if you already have a PayPal account, you can easily connect it to your KidVestors profile. If not, no worries, you can set one up beforehand. Once your PayPal account is linked, you can transfer your funds to any bank account of your choice, no matter where you live!
- 04While students are absolutely encouraged to repeat their grade level content to ensure mastery, cash and stock rewards can only be earned once per grade level. This means that if a student completes the content more than once, they will benefit from the extra knowledge and practice, but the rewards will not be awarded again for the same grade level. This policy helps maintain fairness and encourages continuous learning and progression.
- 05A stock certificate is an official document issued by a corporation or its transfer agent that proves ownership of a specific number of shares.
- 06A replica stock certificate is a non-negotiable, decorative version of a stock certificate intended for display or educational purposes. These replicas do not confer legal ownership.
- 07Yes. Non-U.S. residents are generally eligible to purchase select stocks available on U.S exchanges through our platform. However, it's the purchaser's responsibility to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations. So whether you're in the U.S. or abroad, you can still gift ownership in many of the most well-known American companies!
- 08DRS is an electronic registration system that allows investors to hold securities in book-entry form directly with the transfer agent, eliminating the need for physical certificates or brokerage accounts.
- 09The personalized display certificate is typically shipped within 2 business days. The official ownership documentation, either a registered stock certificate or DRS statement, is mailed directly from the transfer agent to the shareholder's address and may take 3–7 weeks to arrive, depending on processing times.
- 10No. KidVestors and its affiliates do not facilitate the sale of stocks. To sell your shares, you must do so through a registered stock broker or authorized transfer agent.
- 11Yes. If you have a physical stock certificate, you can deposit it into most traditional brokerage accounts. If your shares are held electronically via DRS, you can initiate an Incoming DRS Transfer through your receiving broker. Note that some online brokers, like Robinhood, may not support DRS transfers.
- 12Fidelity, Charles Schwab, tastytrade, and Interactive Brokers, to name a few, all support Direct Registration System (DRS) transfers, though the process and fees may vary by firm. • Fidelity allows outbound DRS transfers for eligible (generally non-retirement) accounts. • Charles Schwab also supports DRS transfers, enabling clients to move shares to and from a transfer agent. • Tastytrade permits DRS transfers as well, but the process may require submitting a specific request form and could involve fees. • Interactive Brokers (IBKR) supports DRS position transfers through its client portal and may charge a small fee for the service. Because policies, fees, and account eligibility requirements can change, you should always check and confirm directly with the broker before initiating a DRS transfer.
- 13KidVestors and its partners specializes in educational stock gifting, making it easier and more accessible than traditional brokers. Through our 3rd party partnerships we facilitate personalized display certificates and facilitate the gifting process without offering investment advice or brokerage services.
- 14If you already own shares through a brokerage, index fund, or retirement account and want a physical representation of your ownership, you can still purchase a replica stock certificate for display purposes. Remember, these replicas are decorative and do not confer legal ownership.
